Why not visit some of the RHS Partner sites - there are loads
What wellbeing can do for you! Try a walk just looking at flowers, lots of beautiful flowers.
I first visited a partner site last year looking for a nice day out with an elderly member of the family.
We chose to go to Green Island Gardens near to Ardleigh just outside Colchester, and it was beautiful.
I had not really heard of the RHS before apart from Chelsea flower shows, and also the Royal Horticultural Halls near to Victoria and Westminster where I have spent many hours in the past at Stampex. Long story.
Anyway, after visiting the Green Island gardens site I looked into the RHS and very quickly became a member not long after with their special offer of about £55 for my first year with a guest free, and as Hyde Hall is a short drive from home, I have now been there a few times, and the one in Harrogate and the one at Wisley near the A3 and M25 junction. There are two more somewhere around the country, but there are a host of partner sites.
Actually I had visited one in France earlier in the year when visiting some French chateaux, and Villandry was not only extremely accessible, it was also brillliant.
You also get free access to the partner sites at certain parts of the year.
Incidentally, we visited Hever Castle a few days ago. We did not go into the Castle, but just the grounds, which allowed me in free as an RHS member, and my wife was able to enter free as my carer. You sort the booking when you get there, and show them the blue badge, or similar. Flash your blue badge when entering the car park, and you will hopefully be redirected to one of their premium blue badge parking spots.
Cool. A small perk for being unable to walk very far or fast, but I can enjoy the flowers and its good exercise for me.
